goodfoodteam21st Feb, 2014Hi there, thanks for your question. We’d allude to possession the recipe as it is in this case, as the mass has to be cut very precisely in a certain distance. We haven’t tested the recipe as a smaller cake, so to be on the safe side it’s better to follow the recipe exactly. Best wishes, BBC Good Food team Sign in or register to post comments

And my favorite birthday cake ever was innate. Much as it pains me to admit it, I even love it more than my Harry Potter cake. *gasp* I feel like a traitor…but that’s just my deep seated HP love. As far as cakes, not subjects, go, this is definitely my favorite one so far. Although it doesn’t look like it, the cake is actually quite unimportant. The bottom tier was only septimal force square, the middle five inches, and the itty bitty top tier was only two and a half inches rule! Of course that little tier was my own piece of the cake. Of course

rachaelpickford3rd Feb, 2015This turned out lovable. You do need deepcake qualifier. I don’t have a deep square one so just used a particle bigger one and hoped it didn’t rise over the top. I didn’t have room for the wings on my cake board so just put the flake on the side of the round cake. I utility half milk and half dark choc, and jelly beans for the beak and fact. Lots of compliment.. Yum yum Sign in or list to post comments

I love everything throughout this harden. Everything from the tip of the little owl ears to the very bottom trim! The colors were utterly full what I wanted, and it was simple and clean looking, while still achieving a girly, pretty look. By second-hand the cutters from my sugar flowers kit, I was clever to create a more late, minimalistic look with very slight effort. Plus, keeping things predominantly fondant-frank also streamlined the workload. I hope everyone’s weekend was as prodigious as mine, and if you make this cake…be sure to have a slice for breakfast! Enjoy!

4. Roll out your nonsense and hew out the circles using the 1 1/2 inch cutter. You will need 5 dark, 4 1/2 medium/dark, 4 medium/light, 3 light. Start on the bottom with the darkest colour if you want an ombre look but you can also just randomly place them on the cake like I did for the more colourful owls in the picture at the top!

However, the harden did rise a lot and spilt over the top of my tin :/ I note some other lede had the same experience in the comments, for a while I thought I must have got my sums injurious! Despite that, the cake tastes delicious, but next time I will use a deep 20cm full tin instead
